Audition Requirements

2018 COTA Cats Audition Requirements

Please send an audio or video recording of you performing the following requirements.

DUE JULY 15th

Saxophones:

–G, Ab major scales, full range of the instrument, 8^th notes at any comfortable tempo.

-Play melody to Charlie Parker’s “Confirmation” or “Donna lee.”

-Play excerpt from “Tune For T.D.” Letter A through D. (Attached at the bottom of this page)

-Woodwind Doubles: Flute scales Bb and D major full range. Clarinet scales F and A major full range.

Trumpets/Trombones:

-C, Bb major scales, largest comfortable range

-Play melody to Charlie Parker’s “Billie’s Bounce.”

–TROMBONES ONLY: Play excerpt from “Tune For T.D.” Letter K through L. (Attached at the bottom of this page)

-LEAD TRUMPETS: Play excerpt from“Tune For T.D.” letter J through L. (Attached at the bottom of this page)

Drums/Piano/Guitar/Bass:

-Play/walk/comp 2 choruses of Bb Blues chord changes at 120 bpm

-Play/walk/comp one chorus of In A Sentimental Mood at 60 bpm

-Play/walk/comp one chorus of The Girl From Ipanema at 160 bpm

– Play excerpt from “Tune For T.D.” (Attached at the bottom of this page).
